These Four Marches from Early America are found in the "Merrimac Collection of Instrumental and Martial Musick" by Henry Eaton Moore, printed and published by Jacob B. Moore in Concord, New Hampshire in 1833. The tempos reflect the slower, dignified marching style of the Revolutionary and Federalist periods. the United States March consists entirely of three-measure phrases

Rossini's overture to the opera "La Scala di Seta (The Silken Ladder) is well-known to audiences and musicians - especially oboists - for whom the oboe solos are prime audition material. This version for chamber wind ensemble is in the original key of C and maintains the original woodwind and horn solo passages. This is a convenient way to allow your oboists to tackle the Big Solo. Performed by The Ohio State University Wind Ensemble under the direction of the transcriber.

Four short fanfares that can be performed as encores, concert openers or as interludes between longer pieces. They don't have to be performed in numerical order. They were composed for a variety of ensembles. The OBOHIO fanfares were played offstage to begin concerts by that double reed quartet. #2 was performed at the International Double Reed Society conference at Louisiana State University in 1990. Tavern Fanfare was originally for wind octet for a concert at, you guessed it, a tavern! The Seven Eight Fanfare was composed in 1998 for no particular ensemble or event.

These are arrangements of two melodies found in ""Come 'A Singing Canadian Folk Songs" by Marius Barbeau, et al published in Ottawa by the King's Printer, 1974. 1. 'My Lonely Heart' was collected from Mme. Bolduc of Quebec City in 1918. 2. 'The Jolly Raftsmen' is a lumberman's song from the Ottawa River. This version of 'Jolly Raftsmen' is the first one I made. Later, I set it for 12 woodwinds as 'The Merry Raftsmen' [7905] and for woodwind quintet 'The Jolly Raftsmen' [9513].
